The day between the Individual and the Team contests was dedicated to a 5 hour excursion to some of the most spectacular places the Blagoevgrad region has to offer. Almost all participants attended the trip, which was bound to produce some interesting results.
The first stop along the way was a visit to the Monastery of Rila, one of the most famous historical and cultural landmarks in Western Bulgaria.
The students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and art that only Bulgaria can offer. They were given enough time to properly explore and feel the atmosphere of the monastery.
Next up was a traditional Bulgarian lunch, set up within one of the typical restaurants in the area. Along with delicious meals and live performances, the participants managed to experience what it’s like to be in the shoes of some of the national dancers, as the organizers had scheduled a live dance lesson.
The excursion acted not only as a multicultural and entertaining event, but also as a breath of fresh air before the Team contest on Thursday morning. All eyes are on there now, hopefully the linguists haven’t forgotten what they’re best at…
…Or, what they’re surprisingly good at.
