The competitors are in the hall, waiting for the ceremony to begin. The Opening Ceremony started at 16:00, marked by a countdown on the homepage of the official website. What followed afterwards was a presentation, showcasing some of the most famous Bulgarian historical moments and people, introducing this year’s sponsors and general partners, and giving the contestants an idea of what they should expect from the competition.
Rumyana Kolarova, secretary for Education, Science and Civil Society of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, is reading the official letter from the President Rosen Plevneliev. Rumyana was among the invited guests that honoured the event and gave out talks to the participants, along with Snezhinka Matakieva, Chief Expert of the Ministry of Education, and Elena Marinova, Board member of AUBG.
The “Pirinska Kitka” dancing formation were the centre of the entertainment part of the ceremony. Here they are, dressed in national attire and performing a traditional Bulgarian dance.
The first piece of the cake for celebrating the opening of the IOL 2015. After the ceremony, the students enjoyed this sweet Olympic dessert, while the team leaders, organizers and guests attended a cocktail dinner, arranged by the university.
